Biographie
Megan has a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree (2004) and a certificate in Children’s Mental Health. In addition to her private practice, Megan has worked in child protection, hospital-based social work, and the education system. Built on her ability to engage, sensitivity to the needs of others, and capacity to build relationships, Megan has a client-centred and compassionate approach to practice. Megan supports her clients to get to the root of their struggles and to find solutions that work for them. Megan has well-developed skills working with multi-home families and is trained in issues related to family mediation, separation/divorce, parenting plans, and family conflict. Megan has extensive work experience supporting children and their families with school-related stress and anxiety, and guides caregivers in developing strategies to increase regulation and distress tolerance. Practicing from a trauma-informed approach, Megan utilizes skills highlighted in dialectical and cognitive behaviour therapy and is also trained in EMDR. Megan was diagnosed with T1D at age 7 and has navigated the challenges and complexities of diabetes firsthand for almost forty years. As a parent, she also understands the challenges facing young people. Both her personal and professional experiences have taught her how to navigate the social service, medical and mental health systems, and she wants to use those experiences to help empower and advocate for her clients.
