Biographie

Leigh Drong, MSW, RSW, CDE (She/her) is a Registered Social Worker and Certified Diabetes Educator with 18 years of clinical experience working with individuals and families living with type 1 diabetes. As a Certified Diabetes Educator, Leigh has an in depth understanding of Type 1 diabetes and the complexities of its management. As a parent of a child with type 1 diabetes, Leigh also understands the emotional impacts that type 1 diabetes can have on an individual and family.

Leigh’s approach to therapy is flexible depending on the needs of each client. Leigh has training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

Leigh has a passion for helping others to overcome adversity, achieve their goals, and realize their potential. Leigh brings empathy and compassion to her professional practice. She understands the importance of establishing a safe and positive therapeutic relationship and takes time to understand the unique interests, abilities and challenges of each client with who she works.

Leigh values and pursues ongoing education to maintain professional competency and ensure she provides evidence based, best practice care.

Outside of her clinical work, Leigh is a Communication Skills Facilitator with Physician Assistant Program at McMaster University.
