Biographie

I am a registered social worker with over 7 years experience working in mental health. I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults (ages 14-35) and the life events associated with this period. I have a strong understanding of the complexities associated with living with a chronic illness, and have additional training working with individuals diagnosed with diabetes. Outside of offering private counselling, I work with children in families in the paediatric diabetes program at SickKids.
I emphasize the importance of collaboration, and use a client- centered approach focused on creating a strong therapeutic relationship. I provide clients with a safe, non judgmental, and supportive environment that encourages self exploration and growth targeted to your personal goals.I use evidence based approaches and am trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative therapy, and motivational interviewing.
I help clients understand the connection between thoughts, emotions and behaviours, and develop strategies for changing maladaptive patterns. My goal is to support clients gain a better understanding of themselves and their internal obstacles in an effort to develop greater acceptance, compassion and resilience.
